Collection Boxes

Farleigh Hospice has a number of 'box collectors' who site and maintain collecting boxes in their particular area.  The boxes are placed in shops, newsagents, banks, businesses etc. and the collectors empty them on a regular basis, usually about 3 or 4 times a year.  The money is counted and banked, the tin cleaned and relabelled and placed back in the venue for the next time.  The box collector also sends out thank you letters to the box holders and informs the fundraising office of the amount of money banked.

Between them the box collectors raise around £17,000 per year.  Many more collectors are needed and the rounds can be as big or as small as the collector can deal with.  Currently Farleigh Hospice is looking for collectors in some central Chelmsford areas and in some of the Braintree district and Maldon district areas.

As well as official box collectors, Farleigh Hospice can issue 'loose change' boxes for individuals to keep in their own homes.  Small change is collected in these and the individual brings the box into the hospice or one of the hospice shops for counting, taking a new box in its place.  Although each box usually only holds between £5 and £15, collectively these add up to an impressive amount of money each year.  If you would like a Loose Change box please contact the fundraising office.
