Liz has been a Chelmsford GP since 1985 .Prior to this she qualified at Bart’s in 1981 and then undertook hospital jobs in the Mid Essex area gaining experience in secondary care before entering general practice. Since 1985 she has sat on a number of committees: 1999 appointed to the LMC; 2002 appointed to the PEC (professional executive committee Chelmsford PCT) and held the post of the primary care cancer lead.
Since 2007 she has sat on the Mid Essex Locality board for supportive and palliative care. She also sits on the East of England end of life education committee and the Essex cancer patient information steering group.
In Sept 2009 she was appointed as a Macmillan GP. Liz has always had a strong interest in cancer management and palliative care and believes that patients and carers should be involved in decision making at every stage of their care pathway. As part of her new appointment she is keen to encourage GP practices within Mid Essex to embrace Gold Standard Framework as well as improve communications between primary and secondary care not only in end of life issues but within all aspects of cancer care.
Liz’s personal interests include cooking, sewing, and most sports. She has a busy home life which includes being actively involved with a large extended family.
